For anyone who’s starting out in photography, going out on frequent walks with a camera in tow is a great way to practice and develop your eye. We’re lucky to be living in Dubai, where the old and the new are beautifully woven into each other, forming one of the most visually interesting locales in the world.
But the problem with being a resident of what must be the most photographed city ever, is that whatever shot of Dubai you could think of is likely to be floating on the Internet already, probably resting on someone’s Flickr account. The challenge is to create photos that are unique and representative of how you see Dubai. I’m not saying my photos stand out from the rest, but the key is to go in with the goal of doing something different. I recently drove down to Old Dubai to capture people, places and moments, and ride an abra for the first time too.
